As the book title suggests, the are 2 ingredients necessary to achieve success in anything you want to accomplish and they are Art and Science. After reading tons of success stories and even through my own experiences, I realized that Art and Science works hand in hand in order to get what you want, whether you know it or not.
If you ask me which is more important, I will say both and in fact, it’s a step by step process. Once you learn the Science of success, you will naturally upgrade to the Art of success. Let’s talk about the Science. It’s very close to us since we learn it in school everyday, but the science of success is deeper than the “science” subject we learn in school. Science of success refers to the logical steps you need to take in order to complete a certain task.
For example, if you are in the sales industry, you got to learn the basic selling skills, how to talk to your prospects, follow up with them. You can learn it from coach, seminars, books, videos etc. It is a formula to follow and it’s like “if you do this step, you will achieve that” kind of stuff, similiar to what we learn in school. You will never go wrong, 1+1=2 it’s almost a sure thing.
But in reality, you and I know that the world does not function in this way. There are so many variables involved in a task and success is almost never guarantee. In fact, the phrase “Successful People Do Things With No Guarantee of Success” will be suitable for the kind of world we are living in right now and this makes life more exciting.
This is where the “Art of Success” comes in and strengthen the “Science of success”. There’s a saying “We have no money problems but creativity problem”. I like to tie in creativity with Art of Success. Just like doing Art class during our school time, we are free to express our own creativity with no restrictions. There are no right or wrong answers, it just whether it works or not; or feel right or not.
Now, if you have notice, many successful entrepreneurs have crafted their own Art of Success (tailored to themselves) after building a solid base of Science of Success. They know their basics inside out, upside down, fails many times doing all the different things and finally come out with their own Art of Success. While we can copy the Science of Success, we can never duplicate the Art of Success since it’s different for everyone.
